In late 1980 Suzuki GB released this pre production model RM 125X. The bike in the photo you see here was at Cheddleton in Derbyshire on 28 September 1980. I have been told the rider is Tony McNiece, and that he was sponsored by Crooks Suzuki at the time. He was riding in the 125 expert class against some very capable expert riders. He lapped everyone up to and including second place. This showed the capabilities of water cooling and the Full Floater suspension and was the first big leap over the air cooled twin shock bikes racing at that time. Notice the main differences over the stock bikes were the seat cover doesn’t have RM printed on it, the front number plate was an early design, the rear brake torque arm was black steel. The main difference was the swing arm design, this one is completely different from the stock item.
